back on the road

well, the hurling national tournament is over. we had a pretty good weekend as a club, and our jr B hurling team won the shield bracket (third place) for the second year in a row. that's the last two years at third, and the year before that at second. not a bad record overall.

i'm in los altos at the moment, staying with the grandparents, doing laundry and resting up for the day tomorrow. it feels like things are really starting now. i know i was on the road before, but it kind of felt like a prelude. i knew the roads, the scenery, and i had a full tournament and four days off the bike. tomorrow it starts for real. so far my nerves haven't got the best of me yet, but the evening is still young.

my uncle jim is coming over tonight and hopefully we'll go over some routes for getting down to LA. if anyone knows more about obscure california roads than jim, i haven't met him yet (or heard of him for that matter). i'm sure he'll have plenty of suggestions, and it will just be a matter of choosing the right one. preferably no interstates, but not too long (i have plenty of long days coming up).

that's about it for now. tomorrow i'm off to parts i've not seen, roads i've not travelled and adventures i've not had (yet). i'm also heading into the heat.

yeehaw.

rftc,

scott
